For more than ten years, Laura has relied on Share Ourselves for affordable healthcare, education, and ongoing support in managing her diabetes. At 70 years old, she says the care she has received has helped her feel healthier, more confident, and better equipped to care for herself and her husband following his stroke.

Laura first came to Share Ourselves after hearing about the clinic through friends, family, and the dental center, which later referred her for medical services. At the time, she was seeking affordable care and support in learning how to manage her diabetes.

“I enrolled as soon as I could,” Laura shared. “I needed help learning how to manage my diabetes.”

In addition to medical care, Laura received pharmacy consultations, diabetes education, physical therapy referrals for shoulder pain, and dental services through the sliding fee program. She especially credits the pharmacy department for helping her better understand her medications and feel confident asking questions about her care.

“The pharmacy staff and interns have given me great individual attention,” she said. “I feel much more confident taking my medications and understanding my overall wellness.”

Laura expressed gratitude for Dr. Bender, Dr. Dinh, Mark Villegas, and the broader care team for the compassion and support they consistently provide.

“It has been great receiving help regardless of our circumstances,” Laura said. “The prescriptions have been affordable, and I am very happy with the care provided.”

For Laura, Share Ourselves represents more than healthcare.

“Share Ourselves is education,” she said. “They create opportunities for people to access healthcare, medications, and wellness education.”
